Kyle Reese TERMINATOR CLASSIC NIKE VANDAL Hi Supreme Revisited
/ 847 days agoSo I decided to revisit the whole Kyle Reese Terminator shoes. Many of you checked out the previous article so I thought you may be interested in this find. europian44 is selling a vintage pair of Vandals from 1979. This is probably the closet I’ve found to the ones in the movie. Except for the yellowing of the soles and the missing strap this shoe is in good shape. The colors seem to be correct, black and sliver, black and sliver. I don’t know hit me back tell me what you think.
The one’s europian44 have for sale seem right enough, but, as you said, no top velcro strap.
I’d rather have a “to the stitch” new copy of these sneakers or an extremely accurate re-issue than these, although original, well worn ones. To me, part of the appeal is the fact that a new set would have factory fresh colour and shape.
Call me weird but by all means buy an original 50′s Gibson Les Paul with age old wear and imperfection, but I like my footwear fresh out of the box with that intoxicating aroma of rubber and leather…I even dig the tissue paper they put in the boxes…lol
Thing is also, (you probably know this) there are re-issues nike have out that have the velcro strap but the colours seem wrong and don’t seem to have the reflective panel on the strap. Have a look in the scene where Kyle and Sarah are in the underpass (after the getaway from the police station). Kyle is standing facing the camera and you will notice the flash of reflective on the sneakers top strap.
I sincerely hope I have not come off as a bit of a know all, but I love those Vandals, it’s only because I saw a re-run of Terminator last night that has rekindled my desire to get a pair.
The last time I saw Terminator was in a picture theatre in 1984!…lol
The fact that you called it a “picture theater” reveals your age! Ha. I definitely saw T2 in the theater but doubt I saw Terminator in the theater. There was that one scene that wasn’t Mom approved, you know?
I can confirm that the original terminator vandals did have the silver reflective strap. I saw the movie in the theatre at the time, fell in love with the shoes, then bought a pair brand new. I am now 42 and searching worldwide for a pair.
